‘Radio’ Scouts

31 March 2014

Wiltshire Scouts amazed by radio station set up.

Volunteer run Castledown Radio based in Ludgershall, opened their doors to 11th Andover St Michael’s scout group on Monday 24 March.  As part of their Community badge, the scout’s are encouraged to visit local groups and see how they are run; and as a community radio station Castledown Radio were delighted to share with them all that goes on at the purpose built station.

The scout’s learnt what being a community radio station means and the impact it has in the local community. They had a go at preparing and selecting songs and jingles as well as speaking on air. After having a tour around the station and the Really Red Radio Roadshow (RRRR) (pictured) the scouts took a well deserved break and shared with us their thoughts on the station, Edward said “its very interactive”, while Charlotte claimed, “I would love to be a part of it” There was a unanimous statement that they would all love to see the Really Red Radio Roadshow at an event they were at and would come and say hi to the presenters.

Mark Freeta, Chairman at the Station shared, “It’s part of our key commitment to the community to welcome local groups and show them what we do.  It’s great to see such enthusiasm and energy from the Scout’s and a couple of them have said they would like to get involved going forward.

If you run or are involved with a community group and would like to see what Castledown Radio is all about, please get in touch at www.castledownradio.info.”
